Biography

Brian Carney made an immediate impact on Wingate’s special teams as a true freshman. He recorded seven tackles (five solo) in eight games. Carney notched three solo stops against Lenoir-Rhyne. He also forced a fumble in the L-R contest. At Pope John Paul II, Carney was a member of the football and track teams. His football coach was Chris Kokel. Carney was football MVP as a junior and team captain as a senior. He was named to the all-county football team twice. In track, he was a three-time team MVP. A two-year team captain, Carney earned all-county track laurels two times. Brian is the son of Dan and Chris Carney. Dan Carney played football at the University of Miami.
