John Lowery, Jr. brings a wealth of experience to his role as assistant linebacker coach for the Wingate University Bulldog football program. Lowery spent 37 years on the coaching staff at Forest Hills High School, including 30 years as the head football coach. He compiled an overall record of 266-152 while leading the Yellow Jackets.
Lowery coached the N.C. Shrine Bowl team and the West team in the East/West All-Star game. In addition to his 30 years as head football coach at Forest Hills, Lowery spent 20 years as the head baseball coach and six years as the head boys’ golf coach at his alma mater. He was the school’s athletic director for 15 years.
Lowery has served on the Board of Directors for both the N.C. Football Coaches Association and the N.C. Coaches Association. Lowery received his Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education from Western Carolina University. He earned a Master of Arts degree in educational administration and supervision from Winthrop University. He and his wife Emily live in Wingate. John and Emily Lowery have a son Josh, a daughter-in-law Ashley and three grandchildren.
