Delric Ellington and his 47 catches for 550 yards led the Bulldogs last year, topping the Wingate charts for the second consecutive season. He added seven touchdown grabs to the mix. The league’s coaches voted Ellington to the All-SAC second team last year. Ellington ended the season with five catches for 114 yards and one TD in the season finale at Mars Hill. He had three 100-yard receiving games. Ellington caught five passes for 103 yards and two scores in the Tusculum contest. He posted six catches for 104 yards and one TD against Newberry. Ellington was fourth in the SAC with 4.7 receptions per game. He made the pre-season All-SAC team as selected by the league’s SIDs.

In 2008, he had 36 receptions for 440 yards and four touchdowns. Ellington had seven catches for 95 yards and one score at Newberry. He played football at Vance High School (two years) and Independence High School (one year). At Independence, Ellington played for head coach Tommy Knotts and helped the Patriots win the 2003 N.C. 4A state title. A transfer from CIAA member Livingstone College, Ellington led the Blue Bears in receptions. Delric’s brother Ron Ellington was a two-time All-American and South Atlantic Conference defensive Player of the Year at Catawba College. Delric is the son of Ron and Dannette Ellington.
