Dietrich Wright gives the Bulldogs much leadership in the defensive secondary. He collected 62 tackles (27 solo) for the Bulldogs during his junior season in 2007. Wright garnered a season-high 11 tackles against Newberry on Oct. 20. He posted 10 tackles in a league win at Mars Hill Nov. 10. In addition, he had one interception and three fumble recoveries during the 2007 season. Wright was presented the Charlotte Touchdown Club scholarship following the 2007 campaign. In 2006, Wright gained 41 yards on 13 carries. He had one punt return for four yards and five tackles (one solo, four assists). At Eastern Technical High School, he was a first team All-State, All-Division and All-City/County following his senior season. Wright topped the Eastern charts in both rushing yards and tackles his junior and senior seasons. He rushed for 3,277 yards his final two seasons. Wright was a two-time MVP at Eastern and a co-MVP at Mercersburg Academy. He holds three Maryland state records: points in a career (516), touchdowns in a season (38) and career (87).
