Wingate University Athletics

Jared Seate led Wingate with103 tackles in 2011. He was voted pre-season All-SAC first team this fall. The league’s coaches picked him for the All-SAC second team following the 2011 campaign. Seate topped the 2011 team charts in solo tackles (45) and assists (58). He had 18 tackles in a wild, come-from-behind victory at UNC Pembroke. Seate also recorded double-digit tackles in triumphs over Carson-Newman (14) and Catawba (12).
 
As a sophomore, Seate had 77 tackles and six tackles for loss as Wingate won the 2010 SAC title. Seate’s forced fumble preserved a 38-35 SAC overtime road victory at Carson-Newman. He had a team-best 10 tackles in the triumph over the Eagles. Seate had a career-best 17 tackles in a home victory over Lenoir-Rhyne. Seate’s 2010 stat ledger included six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In 2009, Seate had 20 total tackles and one sack. He had a QB sack in a SAC road victory at Mars Hill. He had six tackles in the MHC game and seven stops in a triumph over Brevard.
 
Seate utilized a redshirt season in 2008. At Olympic High, Seate was a member of the football, wrestling and baseball teams. His football coach was Barry Shuford. Seate was football MVP three years and wrestling MVP one year for the Trojans. A two-year team captain in football and wrestling, Seate was All-Queen City Conference in football (three times), wrestling (two times) and baseball (once). The OHS Trojans won league titles in wrestling and baseball during his tenure. Statistically, Seate had a school-record 413 career tackles. His 126 career wrestling victories were second in the state. An honor roll student at Olympic, Jared is the son of John and Joy Seate.
