Wingate University Athletics

Kenny Safrit helped the Wingate offense rank second in the SAC (and ninth in the NCAA) in passing offense last season. Wingate averaged 238.4 passing yards per game in 2008. Safrit and his teammates blocked for Nelson Woods as he has topped the 1000-yard plateau two years in a row. In 2006, Safrit helped the Wingate passing game rank first in the SAC and eighth in NCAA Division II with 273.8 yards per game. Safrit played three sports at Elkton High School. His football coach was Bill Russell. Safrit earned three letters for the Golden Elks, serving as a team captain his senior campaign. He was also a member of the baseball team (three letters) and the track and field team (one letter). Safrit’s father (Alan) lettered in track and field at Wingate and Appalachian State. Kenny is the son of Alan and Laura Safrit.
