Personal: Matthew Marks was a three-year member of the football team while also doubling as the catcher on the EGHS baseball team. His football coach at East Gaston was Sean Joyce. In the classroom, Marks was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Beta Club. As a junior, he received the Warrior Scholar-Athlete Award for having the highest GPA on the baseball team. Marks was also an officer in the East Gaston Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter. Matthew is the son of Dr. Sandy Marks and Mrs. Cynthia Marks.
