Biography

Morris Gatewood recorded 17 tackles in 2010, seeing action in 10 games for the SAC champion Bulldogs. Gatewood had three tackles each in Wingate’s final three contests: Newberry, Morehouse and Albany State. The Anson High School product posted a season-high four stops in a home victory over UNC Pembroke (Sept. 18, 2010). Gatewood posted five total tackles in 2009. He recorded four solo stops.

In 2008, Gatewood recorded 10 tackles during his redshirt freshman season. He had three tackles against Brevard and Mars Hill. Gatewood posted two solo stops and a QB hurry against the MHC Lions. He redshirted during the 2007 campaign. At Anson, Gatewood was a member of the football and track teams. His football coach was Jody Grooms. Both teams won sectional titles during Gatewood’s career. An All-Conference performer in football, he led the Bearcats in sacks his junior year (11). Morris is the son of Daniel and Carolyn Gatewood.
