Wingate University Athletics

In his first year as the starting quarterback, Robbie Nallenweg took Wingate football and the South Atlantic Conference by storm in 2012. He set school records for passing yards per game (331.3), completions in a game (43), completions in a season (326), attempts in a season (491) and completion percentage for a season (66 percent). His yards in a season (3644) and touchdowns in a season (29) are both second-most in a season at Wingate. 
 
Nallenweg holds two SAC records, both of which he set in the October 6, 2012 contest with Mars Hill: attempts in a game (73) and yards in a game (568). He was the SAC Offensive Player of the Week after completing 30-of-44 passes for 292 yards and four TDs as Wingate defeated (then) number 16 Albany State 37-9 (Sept. 8, 2012). Nallenweg was a nominee for the 2012 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® for his role in Wingate’s initiative with the Union County Boys and Girls Club. He is a two-year team captain for the Bulldogs.
 
In 2011, Nallenweg completed 10-of-14 passes for 91 yards and one TD. He was seven-of-11 for 63 yards and one score at Albany State. In 2010, he saw time in Wingate’s first-ever game at Valdosta State. Nallenweg was an All-Conference quarterback who had 190 completions for 2,731 passing yards during his senior season at C.A. Erwin. His 2,731 passing yards was tops in the area. Nallenweg led the conference with 25 touchdowns. His football coach at Erwin was Mike Sexton.
 
In addition to his football exploits, Nallenweg was a member of the basketball and tennis teams at C.A. Erwin. He helped the Erwin basketball team win the conference title. Nallenweg won the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. A Beta Club member, Robbie Nallenweg is the son of Rich and Ronda Nallenweg. A three-time SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll student-athlete, he participated in Wingate’s W’International program in May, 2012.
