2016-17: Averette was one of four Bulldogs to play in 32 of 32 games…more than doubled her scoring average from her freshman year to her sophomore year, posting 9.5 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game…added one rebound per game to her ledger…led the team with her 35 three-point field goals…hit 46.7 percent of her attempts from downtown (35-of-75)…recorded a career-high 22 points in a December home game against Lincoln Memorial…opened the season with five consecutive double-figure scoring games, including a 15-point effort in a home triumph over Lenoir-Rhyne…her 79.5 percent accuracy from the free throw line was second on the team…SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll student…
2015-16: Averette played in 30 of 30 games as a first-year Bulldog…averaged 4.5 points per game and 2.6 rebounds per game…netted eight points and pulled down four boards in first conference game at Lenoir-Rhyne…season-high 13 points in home victory over UNC Pembroke, hitting five-of-five field goals and three triples…hit double-figure points in four games…season-high 11 rebounds in home win versus Lincoln Memorial…SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll student…
Prior to Wingate: Caroline Averette was a four-year varsity starter and two-year team captain for head coach
Adam Layton at Midlothian High School. As a senior, Averette averaged 18.6 points per game while earning first team all-state, first team all-conference and conference Player of the Year honors. Midlothian won the regional title and advanced to the state championship game her final season. She completed her career with 1,251 points, while leading MHS in scoring four years in a row.
As a junior, she averaged 15.3 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, 3.3 assists per game and 3.2 steals per game on the way to earning first team all-conference and second team all-region honors. In soccer, Averette led the team in goals her senior season. MHS won the regional title the same season. Averette was a star in the classroom with four academic all-district trophies on her mantel.
On the AAU scene, Averette played for the James River Blaze and head coaches
Ed Sherod and
Greg Beckwith. She was named a pool all-star at the USJN/Nike 17U and 15U national championships. Her team finished seventh in the 2013 U15 Division I national championships in Kissimmee, Fla. Averette is the daughter of
