Biography

2012: Chandler Murphy started 17 games during her junior season at Wingate, piling up a league-best 10 assists to go along with two goals, ranking fifth on the team with 14 points. Murphy started the season with a goal and an assist against Limestone, while also notching an assist against Queens. After notching an assist in wins at Brevard and Belmont Abbey, Murphy had a goal and two assists in the 5-0 win against Mars Hill. She piled up three assists in the 4-1 victory over Newberry in the SAC Tournament, while also notching an assist in Wingate’s NCAA Tournament contests against North Georgia.

2011: Murphy earned second team All-SAC honors during her sophomore year at Wingate, registering nine goals and five assists for the Bulldogs. Murphy ranked in the top 10 in the league in goals assists and points. She had the game-winning goal against USC Aiken, while also notching an assist. Murphy also had a goal and an assist against St. Andrews, while netting a pair of goals against Lincoln Memorial. Murphy had a goal and an assist in Wingate’s 4-2 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne in the SAC championship match.

2010: In her first season for the Bulldogs, Murphy appeared in 19 games, starting four. She scored two goals for the season – one against Chowan in a 9-0 win and one against Tusculum in a 3-1 win in the Food Lion SAC tournament.

Personal: Murphy is a player whose attacking skills will catch the eye. An outside midfielder, Murphy has played for the Coast FA soccer club and former Wingate men’s assistant coach Pat Piscitelli. She also played for Waccamaw High School and head coach Brian Brennan. Murphy was selected for the High School Sports Report (HSSR) All-State team, the All-State (2A) team, Toast of the Coast and All-Region Team in 2009. Waccamaw won the state 2A championship in 2010 as Murphy was named the HSSR state Player of the Year. She led the team in assists her senior year. Her brother played soccer at St. Andrews University. Chandler is the daughter of Ken and Donna Murphy.
