2012: Chelsey Horan started all 19 games for the Bulldogs as a junior, notching a goal and an assist on the year. She was a key piece of the Wingate defense that held opponents to 1.26 goals and 11 shots per game. The Bulldogs registered six shutouts during the 2012 season. Horan scored Wingate’s lone goal in the 1-1 tie against Lander. She had an assist in the 4-2 victory against UNC Pembroke. 

2011: Horan started all 20 games for the Bulldogs as a sophomore, helping to lead the dominant defensive effort that led the SAC with nine shutouts and a 1.06 goals against average. The defense was most dominant in SAC play, allowing only five goals in the nine contests for a 0.56 goals against average. The Bulldogs notched shutouts in seven of nine SAC contests on the seasons. During Wingate’s 10-game winning streak, the defense went 599 minutes without allowing a goal. On three separate occasions this season, the Wingate defense did not allow a shot on goal. The ‘Dogs notched six consecutive shutouts at one point in the streak, with five coming against league opponents. In the six contests, the defense allowed only 29 shots and only nine on goal. Horan added a pair of goals and an assist on the year, scoring in the 3-0 win over USC Aiken and 6-0 victory over St. Andrews.

2010: In her first year as a Bulldog, Chelsey Horan appeared in 19 games with 12 starts. She scored three goals on the season. Horan helped strengthen a defense which surrendered only 15 goals on the season. Horan was named to the 2011 SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Personal: Horan is a strong defender who can play on the right or left side. Horan played her club soccer at Charlotte Soccer Academy. She played two years of high school soccer at Charlotte Christian. Horan finished her scholastic career at Marvin Ridge, playing for legendary head coach Ray Fumo. As a senior, she led the MRHS Mavericks to the state 3A championship. On the hardwood, Horan earned two varsity basketball letters at Marvin Ridge. She was a two-year basketball captain and an All-Conference performer as a senior. Her uncle played baseball at Eckerd College. Chelsey is the daughter of Kevin and Kyla Horan.
