Biography
2012: Derek Watts led the 2012 Bulldogs with 26 assists. For his efforts, he was named to the All-Deep South Conference second team by the league’s coaches. Watts was second on the WU team charts with 23 goals. He started 14 of 14 games for the blue-and-gold.
2011: Watts was named first team All-DSC after an outstanding sophomore season. Finished third in points and goals and second in assists from his midfield position. He recorded a point in all but two games. Watts had eight multi-point games. His 96 shots for the season was second highest in Wingate history.
2010: Watts had a solid first year of college lacrosse. He contributed nine goals and three assists for 12 points, playing in 15 of 15 games.
High School: As a senior Derek was named to the All-Region, All-Conference, first team All-State and All-American teams. Derek finished up his senior year at Mount Tabor High school under Coach Tom Perrault. Watts was selected to play in the N.C. Great 38 game following his senior year.
Personal: Derek Michael Watts… born April 15, 1991… son of Leslie and Mark Watts. He is one of three Watts brothers to play lacrosse for the Bulldogs.
