Biography
2015-16: Kristina Rumplasch played in 30 games during her junior campaign…averaged 7.8 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game…converted 51.2 percent of her field goal tries (105-of-205), placing her in the SAC top five in individual field goal percentage…scored in double figures on 12 occasions with season-high 18 points in a huge road victory at Lincoln Memorial (Dec. 16)…season-high seven rebounds in home triumph over Carson-Newman (Jan. 9)…dished out season-best five assists as the Bulldogs earned a 24-point Cuddy Arena win against Mars Hill (Feb. 8)…
Prior to Wingate: Rumplasch joined the Bulldog family after two years at Cape Fear Community College, where she played for head coach Lori Drake. As a sophomore, Rumplasch made the All-Region team for the Sea Devils. She averaged 17.2 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game as Cape Fear posted a 26-6 overall record in only the third year of the program’s existence. Rumplasch averaged 17.1 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game her freshman season. Cape Fear CC head coach Drake played for Wingate’s Hancock at UNC Wilmington, where Drake was an All-CAA performer and the Seahawks’ leading scorer and rebounder as a senior.
Rumplasch enjoyed a distinguished athletic career at North Surry, where she was a Winston-Salem Journal All-Northeast performer as a senior for head coach Shane Slate. A two-time all-conference pick, Rumplasch played four years of varsity basketball for the Greyhounds. She scored over 1300 career points with a career-high 41 markers against Forest Hills in the state play-offs her junior season.
In addition to her NSHS basketball exploits, Rumplasch played three years of volleyball for the Greyhounds (and head coach Slate). North Surry won the 2012 state championship with Rumplasch as a starting opposite side hitter. Rumplasch is the daughter of Colleen Rumplasch.
