2015: Alex Nelson was once again the anchor for the league’s best defense in 2015…Earned first team All-SAC and All-Region honors…Started all 22 matches, logging a team-best 1847 minutes of action…Wingate led the conference with a0.79 goals-against average and 10 shutouts, allowing a league-low nine goals in SAC contests…Wingate held opponents to under 10 shots per game…Nelson also scored a pair of goals in his junior season…Had the game-winner in the season opener against Barton…Also scored a big goal in the 2-1 victory at Mars Hill.

2014: Nelson appeared in all 20 games during his sophomore season at Wingate, earning first team All-SAC and All-Region honors…Anchored a Wingate defense that ranked second in the conference, allowing 0.97 goals per game…The ‘Dogs allowed a league-low 10 goals during league matches…Wingate had seven shutouts on the year…Nelson scored a goal in Wingate’s 4-1 victory against Emmanuel. 

2013: Nelson started all nine matches he appeared in during his first year at Wingate...Had a goal and an assist on the season, while also playing a key role on the defense that had seven shutouts and held opponents to 1.06 goals per game...First collegiate goal was the overtime game-winner at Carson-Newman, who would eventually advance to the NCAA Division II championship match...Had an assist in 1-0 victory at Tusculum.
