Biography
2015-16: Øystein Fjeldberg won the 200 Butterfly at the 2016 Bluegrass Mountain Conference championship meet, posting a triumphant time of 1:51.90. The Bulldog junior was All-BMC in three individual events: the 500 Freestyle, the 400 Individual Medley and the 200 Butterfly as Wingate claimed second place on the team charts. He swam a personal-best time of 4:32.17 in the BMC 500 Free. At the Royal Open (last chance meet), Fjeldberg recorded a collegiate-best time of 3:55.56 in the 400 Individual Medley. He swam personal bests in the 100 Backstroke (57.09, GWU), the 200 Backstroke (1:56.61, WU Fall Frenzy) and the 200 Individual Medley (1:51.23, BMC).
2014-15: Fjeldberg is a very versatile swimmer, helping the Wingate men’s swim team in the Butterfly, Individual Medley and distance events for the 2014-15 season. At the Bluegrass Mountain Conference championship meet, he finished with three top eight placements: the 200 Butterfly (1:51.87, sixth), 400 Individual Medley (3:58.43, sixth) and the 500 Freestyle (4:33.55, sixth). He earned All-BMC honors and went on to compete in the NCAA championship meet. At NCAAs, he reached personal best times in the 200 Butterfly (1:50.10, 17th) and the 400 IM (3:56.23, 13th) to gain honorable mention All-American laurels. Fjeldberg gained CSCAA Scholar All-America honors as well.
2013-14: Fjeldberg swam the following career-best times at the ninth annual SCAD College Invitational in Savannah, Ga. Dec. 5: 4:43.94 (500 Freestyle), 16:32.21 (1650 Freestyle), 1:55.22 (200 Butterfly), 1:55.58 (200 IM) and 4:04.78 (400 IM). At the Quad Meet in Charlotte he swam 55.80 in the 100 Butterfly.

Fjelberg also swam career-bests at the Queens vs. Wingate dual meet in Charlotte with the following times: 9:58.14 (1000 Freestyle) and 1:57.71 (200 Butterfly). Fjelberg opened his collegiate career at the 2013 All-N.C. Invitational in Greensboro with these times: 1:59.51 (200 Fly) and 4:13.53 (400 IM).
Personal: Øystein Fjeldberg hails from Rennesøy, Norway. He is the son of Geir and Turid Fjeldberg. He attended St. Svithun Videregående Skole. Fjeldberg earned third place in the 200 Meter Butterfly (long course) in the 2013 Norwegian National Championships. He received several fourth-place honors in other events. In the Norwegian Junior National Championships (13-19 years of age), Fjeldberg had three third-place finishes in 2011 and 2012.

His top three events and times for short course (meters) are 400 Individual Medley (4:30.23), 200 Butterfly (2:05.10) and 400 Freestyle (4:00.67). Fjeldberg’s top three events and times for long course (meters) are 400 IM (4:44.45), 200 Butterfly (2:09.42) and 400 Freestyle (4:12.90). When Fjeldberg is not swimming, he loves to watch a great movie with friends.
