Biography
2011-12: Will Stokes has achieved career-best breaststroke and freestyle times at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference meet. Stokes has helped Wingate win three BMC titles. His contributions to the team cannot be measured in numbers. He plans to become a physical therapist after graduation.
2010-11: Stokes posted a 23.96 50 Freestyle at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference championship meet (2/16/11). At the same event, he recorded career-best times in the 100 Breaststroke (1:04.27) and the 200 Breaststroke (2:25.32). The Bulldogs won the 2011 BMC title, thanks to the contributions of Stokes and his teammates.
2009-10: Stokes had a good freshman year and was a part of the men’s third straight conference title. He primarily swam breaststroke and sprint freestyle for the Bulldogs in his first campaign. His top results on the year came against Pfieffer where he recorded a trio of fifth place finishes.
High School: William Stokes was an all-county swimmer at East Rowan High School. He also won multiple letters as a runner for the cross country and track teams. Stokes was the captain of his swim team his senior year and was voted the team’s most improved swimmer his junior season. His father, Glenn Stokes, Jr., played football at Appalachian State. William is the son of Glenn and Amy Stokes.
