Biography
2011-12: Drew Owen was named the MVP of the SAC tournament as he and his teammates won the school’s first tourney title. Owen led the 2012 team in singles victories with 18. He had a 17-3 ledger at the number two position. He had a 7-4 doubles record with senior teammate Matt Lichtenstein. Owen won the clinching singles match in Wingate’s 5-3 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional victory over Mount Olive.
2010-11: An All-SAC selection, Owen played number two singles and number one doubles for the Bulldogs. In singles, he was 14-4 overall and 7-2 in the SAC. With teammate Flavio Rathsam, Owen provided the Bulldogs with a solid number one doubles team. The pair was 10-10 overall, with a 4-5 ledger in SAC play.
2009-10: Owen put together a solid sophomore season for the Bulldogs. He was 12-3 overall in singles, with an 8-3 record at the number three position and a perfect 4-0 mark at the number four flight. Owen was 6-1 in SAC play. Owen and Matt Lichtenstein were 9-0 in number three doubles action, including a perfect 6-0 mark in SAC play. Owen and Louis Villarroel were 3-0 at the same position. Owen lost only one doubles match all season, compiling a 12-1 doubles record.
2008-09: Owen compiled a 9-6 singles record as a true freshman. He was 8-5 at the number four flight and 1-1 at the number three flight. Owen was 1-1 in doubles, winning a SAC match at the number two doubles position.
HIGH SCHOOL: Drew Owen played lacrosse, soccer and tennis at Grand River Collegiate Institute. His tennis coach was Dave Rowat. During his career with the Grand River Renegades, Owen played number one singles and served as team captain. He was lacrosse team MVP as well. In soccer, he helped Grand River finish first in its division. Andrew Owen is the son of Jeff and Connie Owen.
