Wingate University Athletics

Olivia Brees joined the Wingate coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach in the fall of 2020 after an incredible collegiate career at Baker University, where she played for current Wingate head coach Jamie Stanclift.

One of the most dominant pitchers in NAIA history, Brees was a four-time all-conference and three-time NAIA first team All-American during her Baker career. She got it done on the field and in the classroom, earning first team Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA each of her final two seasons. Brees was named the NAIA Academic All-American of the Year in each of her final two seasons as well. The two-time NFCA and NAIA Scholar-Athlete was named the 2019 NAIA National Pitcher of the Year. 

In her senior season when she was named the National Pitcher of the Year, Brees led Baker to a school-record 47 victories. The Wildcats won the conference regular season and tournament titles in 2019. Brees set the school's single season record for wins (35), innings pitched (239 2/3), strikeouts (449), shutouts (12), no-hitters (4), ERA (0.73) and saves during the 2019 season. She finished 35-3 during the historic 2019 season with a 0.73 ERA and 449 strikeouts in 239 2/3 innings pitched. Her 449 strikeouts were not only the most in the NAIA in 2019, but the most in all of college softball. 

During her illustrious career, Brees piled up 100 wins, 89 complete games, 32 shutouts and 1,302 strikeouts while compiling a 1.42 career ERA. All are school records, while the strikeouts rank fourth in NAIA history. 

Brees was a two-sport star at Baker, earning all-conference honors three times in volleyball while also earning NAIA second team All-American accolades. She was a two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete on the volleyball court, while also earning Academic All-District honors. 

Brees graduated from Baker in 2019, majoring in Elementary Education with minors in Psychology and Coaching. She is currently working on her Master's Degree at Wingate. At Baker, Brees was a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Alpha Delta Sigma Honor Society and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was the Baker University Senior Student Senate Treasurer and the School of Education Ambassador. In 2019 she was named the Teacher of Promise by the Kansas State Department of Education.
