2013: Saehler earned All-SAC Freshman honors during her first season at Wingate...Played in 35 matches, with 21 starts, seeing time as a middle blocker and outside hitter...Averaged 1.59 kills per set, adding 51 blocks and 46 digs...Hit .545 with eight kills in five-set win over #9 UIndy, adding three blocks...Registered nine kills against Anderson...Had 10 kills and four blocks in the win at Queens, hitting .286...Hit .389 with eight kills against Carson-Newman, while notching 11 kills and six digs in the win at Coker...Hit .625 with six kills and four digs in two sets of action against Brevard...Tallied eight kills in the win at Newberry, while registering eight kills and six digs against Catawba...Hit .400 with a season-high 15 kills at Brevard, adding five digs and two blocks...Had eight kills in the regular season finale against Mars Hill.
Personal: Abby Saehler was selected as a 5A first team All-State Player and led her Iowa City High School team to the finals of the Iowa State championship tournament. As a club player, she represented Iowa Rockets, the same club that produced Wingate standouts Lexi Potter and Shelly Stumpff. Potter was the SAC and Region Freshman of the Year in 2011, while Stumpff earned both honors in 2012. Saehler was selected as MVP of the 2011 AAU Junior Nationals Classic Division, leading them to the championship. In addition to volleyball, Saehler was a star high jumper on the track team, and as a competitive multi-sport athlete played on the softball, bowling, and tennis teams.

Why Abby chose Wingate: I wanted to continue playing volleyball with a team who was very successful but at the same time have a really good bond. I also love the campus and the small class sizes!
