Wingate University Athletics

Prior to Wingate: As the starting point guard for her entire career, Brie Wajer led the Eagles to a record of 62-20 during her four years at Lincoln Academy for head coach Kevin Feltis. The Eagles qualified for the state tournament every year, including appearances in the Southern Maine finals her junior and senior seasons. In addition to averaging 17.3 points, 6.1 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 3.4 steals her senior year, Wajer joined the 1000-point club.
 
Wajer proved her basketball smarts by winning three consecutive Lincoln Academy MVP awards for her sophomore, junior and senior years after earning the Coaches Award as a freshman. She was the KVAC Player of the Year, a two-time All-KVAC first team member and a three-time KVAC All-Defensive team member. Wajer’s production also led to a spot on the Maine McDonald’s All-Star team.
 
Due to her success in the classroom, Wajer was selected for the Maine Principals’ Association Award. She is the daughter of Christopher and Christine Wajer. She has an older sister (Alex) who played college softball at St. Lawrence University and an older brother (Ethan) who played college soccer at Curry College.

Why Brie chose Wingate: "As soon as I left campus after my visit I knew that Wingate was the school for me. I was impressed with coach Hancock and the rest of her coaching staff, liked the campus and left feeling very excited about the broadcasting and communications program. I felt like Wingate could be my second home and the basketball team my second family. For me I felt like Wingate was the place where I could thrive and grow academically, athletically and as a person."
