Biography
2011-12: Sequoia Morton played in 21 of Wingate’s 32 games during her true freshman campaign. She saw a season-high 12 minutes in a contest at defending national champion Clayton State (four points, two rebounds). Morton netted a season-best four points four times (Clayton State, Catawba, Lenoir-Rhyne and Mars Hill). She grabbed a season-high three rebounds in victories over Winston-Salem State and UNC Pembroke. Morton was a member of the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Prior to Wingate: Sequoia Morton averaged 12 points, six rebounds and three blocks per game as a high school senior for head coach Aaron Webb’s Menchville squad. She transferred to Menchville High School from nearby Woodside High School after her junior season. Morton was one of the top 10 scorers in the district as a senior. She also played AAU for GESUS (Growth thru Education, Sports, Unity and Spirit) for coach Lamont Strothers. Sequoia Morton is the daughter of Stacia and DeAndre Morris and Randall Morton.
