Biography
2011: Wollenberg was named to the NCAA Division II All-Academic individual team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). She is a Dean’s List student at Wingate. On the XC course, she had two top-10 performances during her junior year. Wollenberg was ninth at the Bulldog Stampede (21:25 5K) and fifth at the Pre-SAC Invitational (21:30 5K). Her top 2011 time was a 20:53 5K at the Winthrop Invitational.
2010: Wollenberg ran in all seven meets for the Bulldogs as a sophomore. She had three top twenty-five finishes for the season, including a third place finish in the WU Pre-SAC Invitational. She also finished 25th in the SAC Championship meet with a time of 21:21.
2009: Wollenberg finished 22nd at the Food Lion SAC championship race, running the 5K course at Southside Park in Newton, N.C. in 22:25.
High School: Melanie Wollenberg came to Wingate from New Lexington High School in New Lexington, Ohio. Wollenberg was an all-conference performer in both cross-country and track in high school. The Accounting major was a member of the High Honor Roll each year of her high school career. Wollenberg’s hobbies include reading, baking, crafting and painting. Melanie is the daughter of Phillip and Barbara Wollenberg.
