2015: Erin Murphy was named All-South Atlantic Conference, second team…she was Wingate’s leading goal scorer during the 2015 season, posting 38 goals and seven assists for the year…Murphy had a season-high six goals in a SAC road victory over Lincoln Memorial…posted four scores each against Catawba and Young Harris…on the season, Murphy has eight multi-goal games…Wingate is 6-2 overall when Murphy scores more than one goal in a contest…first team captain in program history…
Prior to Wingate: Erin Murphy hails from Mooresville, N.C., where she graduated from Lake Norman Charter High School. Her high school lacrosse coach was Donald Murphy. While a LNCHS student-athlete, Murphy was a junior and senior captain and team MVP as a senior. She played three years of varsity lacrosse and also played club lacrosse for the Queen City Stars and head coach Catherine LeBlanc. Murphy is a transfer from Presbyterian College, where she played for head coach Julie Redman. During her time at Presbyterian, Murphy played midfield and defense. As a midfielder, she tied a school record with nine draw controls against George Mason. Murphy finished her sophomore year at Presbyterian with 24 ground balls, 21 draw controls and 10 points.
