Biography
2016: Alexis Jones played every minute in goal for the Bulldogs during her junior season…Led the SAC in goals-against average and save percentage…Piled up 12 shutouts on the year, ranking second in the conference in saves and shutouts…Registered 86 saves in nearly 1800 minutes of action, allowing just 12 goals…Piled up 11 saves against Columbus State, while collecting three straight shutouts against Pfeiffer, Lander and Mars Hill…Registered back-to-back-back shutouts against LMU, Coker and Brevard, while piling up 14 saves in the 1-0 overtime win against #25 Carson-Newman…Had five saves in regular season finale 2-0 win over Tusculum, while collecting seven saves in 1-0 overtime win over Queens in the SAC Tournament…Had six saves in the 1-0 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne in the SAC Tourney semifinals.
2015: Jones earned first team All-SAC honors during her sophomore season, while also earning All-Region accolades from the NSCAA and D2CCA…Appeared in 19 games while making 18 starts, going 14-3-2 with 13 shutouts…Registered a SAC-best 0.51 goals-against average and .857 save percentage…Notched back-to-back shutouts against Mars Hill and USC Aiken, collecting five saves…Had a pair of saves in the 1-0 OT win against Queens…Collected four straight shutouts against LMU, Coker, Brevard and UNCP, notching five saves…Had three saves in the Catawba shutout, while piling up nine saves in the 0-0 double overtime draw against Lenoir-Rhyne…Compiled 12 saves in another four-straight shutout streak, leading Wingate past Barton, Tusculum, Newberry and Queens.
2014: Jones appeared in three contests during her first season at Wingate, playing 54 minutes at goalkeeper for the Bulldogs…Collected three saves on the year…Played 45 minutes in Wingate’s match at NCAA Division I Stetson, notching two saves…Also had a save in 7-0 win against Mount Olive.
Previous: Jones was an all-conference goalkeeper at White Oak High School, where she played for head coach Buddy Carroll...Helped lead White Oak to a state championship in 2012...Also played volleyball in high school.
