Biography
2009-10: Vaccaro again was a NCAA swimmer for the Bulldogs, and was once again an integral part of the women’s team success. Now going into her fourth and final year at Wingate, Cheryl looks to add to her hardware collection at the Conference and National level. She also plans on helping to push the Lady Bulldogs to their championship aspirations.
2008-09: Cheryl Vaccaro had an impressive sophomore season as a sprint freestyler and breaststroker. She qualified to the NCAA Championships and became an All-American. Vaccaro will be Wingate’s top returning breaststroker this year. Vaccaro finished her sophomore season 28th in the country in the 200 Freestyle and 20th in the 200 Breaststroke.
2007-08: Vaccaro earned all-conference honors in her first year with the Bulldogs. She finished second in the 200 Breaststroke at the BGMC Meet with a time of 2:29.17. Vaccaro was fourth in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:09.41. She helped guide the 200 Freestyle Relay team to a second place finish, while helping the 800 Freestyle Relay team to a fourth-place finish in the conference meet.
HIGH SCHOOL: Vaccaro was the captain of the South Mecklenburg swim team her senior year. Born on July 27, 1988, Cheryl is the daughter of Sal and Pam Vaccaro.
