Wingate University Athletics

2014-15: Julie Wessler was co-captain and led the Bulldog team in the distance events for the 2014-15 season. During the Bluegrass Mountain Conference meet, she placed first in both the 1000 Freestyle (10:03.38) and the 1650 freestyle (16:49.80). In the same BMC meet, she finished second in the 500 Freestyle with a new school-record time of 4:56.03. Wessler earned All-BMC standing for her performances. She competed in the NCAA championship meet, claiming All-American status for her 1000 Freestyle performance (10:05.94, seventh). Wessler was an honorable mention All-American in the 500 Freestyle (4:57.72, 13th) and the 1650 Freestyle (17:00.16, 11th). She was named a CSCAA Scholar All-America for her efforts in the pool and the classroom. Wessler graduated in May of 2015 and will be a fifth-year senior for the 2015-16 season.

2013-14: Wessler wam a career-best 2:05.30 in the 200 Butterfly at the ninth annual SCAD College Invitational in Savannah, Ga. Dec. 5. She opened her season at the 2013 All-N.C. Invitational in Greensboro with a 1:00.53 in the 100 Butterfly.

2012-13: Wessler will not soon forget her first year as a Bulldog. She was All-Bluegrass Mountain Conference in the 1650 Freestyle and the 800 Freestyle Relay. In addition, Wessler touched first in the BMC 500 Freestyle “B” Final at the BMC event, helping Wingate win the team title. Wessler recorded six of the fastest times a Bulldog has ever produced.  She was an All-American in the 1000 Freestyle, placing eighth at the NCAA national championships in Birmingham.
 
Her times in the 200 Freestyle (1:55.27), 500 Freestyle (5:01.56), 1000 Freestyle (10:07.80), 1650 Freestyle (17:02.16), 100 Butterfly (58.03) and the 200 Butterfly (2:09.02).  Wessler helped the 800 Freestyle Relay quartet post the fastest time ever in Wingate swimming history (7:33.22) (WU Swim top times report).
