Wingate University Athletics

2008-09: Lara Golesorkhi was named to the All-American team as a part of her 200 Medley relay. She was also All-Conference in multiple events and was one of Wingate’s top sprinters. Lara was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team. Golesorkhi looks to add to her All-American count and continue her highly successful Wingate career this year.

2007-08: Golesorkhi was an all-conference and All-American in her second season at Wingate. She was a part of the conference champion 200 Medley Relay team. She was an All-American in the 200 and 400 Medley Relay teams, while also earning All-American laurels in the 100 butterfly with a school-record time of 57.12.

2006-07: Golesorkhi was an all-conference performer in the 50 free and 100 fly. She was on the all-conference 200 and 400 Free relay, as well as the 200 and 400 Medley relay. She was also an All-American in the 100 Fly, 200 and 400 Medley and the 200 Free relay. Golesorkhi was the conference champion in the 100 Fly.

HIGH SCHOOL: Golesorkhi received honors for excellent Academic and Athletic Performance from Wirtemberg Gymnasium in Germany. Golesorkhi took first place in the 50 and 100 Butterfly at the South German Championship. She won the 50 Butterfly at the German Championships, while placing third in the 100. At Wingate, Golesorkhi is a member of Phi Eta Sigma and the International Club. She also does volunteer work for UCAN. Lara is the daughter of Homayoun and Ulrike Golesorkhi. She is majoring in Sociology and Psychology.
