Biography

2015-16: A 2016 Academic All-America® at-large team selection, Vika Arkhipova won two national championships (200 Backstroke, 400 Medley Relay) as Wingate earned a school-record second place team finish in the 2016 NCAA Division II national championship meet. She was an All-American in five events (400 and 800 Free Relays, 400 Medley Relay, 100 and 200 Backstroke) at nationals in Indianapolis.

In the aforementioned national championship 400 Medley Relay swim, Arkhipova and three teammates set an NCAA record (3:37.80) on the way to receiving the gold medal. Arkhipova was All-Bluegrass Mountain Conference in six events at the 2016 BMC meet, helping the Bulldogs finish second. She won the BMC 200 Backstroke. Arkhipova received CSCAA Scholar All-America distinction following the season.

2014-15: Arkhipova helped lead the Bulldog team in the Backstroke events during her sophomore season. During the Bluegrass Mountain Conference championship meet, she posted a second-place performance in the 200 Backstroke (1:59.98) and a third-place finish in 100 back (55.98) to earn All-BMC laurels. In addition, she produced a personal-best time in her BMC 200 Freestyle race (1:53.50) for 10th place. Arkihipova accompanied her teammates in the 400 Free Relay during the BMC championship meet. She competed at the NCAA championships, producing personal-best times in both backstroke events. Her 200 Back (1:58.10) gave her a fourth-place showing for All-America honors, while her 100 Back (55.21) resulted in a 10 th place showing for honorable mention AA status. Arkhipova holds the Bulldogs’ 100 Backstroke school record. She received CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition following the season.

2013-14: Arkhipova swam the following career-best times at the ninth annual SCAD College Invitational in Savannah, Ga. Dec. 5: 54.67 (100 Freestyle), 27.40 (50 Backstroke), 56.53 (100 Backstroke) and 2:00.12 (200 Backstroke). She also broke a previous top time in the 200 Freestyle, swimming 1:59.81 at the Wingate Fall Frenzy Nov. 22.
 
At the Quad Meet in Charlotte, Arkhipova had top times: 2:02.30 (200 Freestyle), 28.08 (50 Backstroke), 58.17 (100 Backstroke) and 2:04.29 (200 Backstroke). She opened her collegiate career at the 2013 All-N.C. Invitational in Greensboro with the following times: 57.06 (100 Freestyle), 28.22 (50 Backstroke), 59.26 (100 Backstroke) and 2:07.70 (200 Backstroke).

Personal: Vika Arkhipova hails from Seversk, Russia. The daughter of Sergey and Marina Arkhipova, she attended Winlow High School. A top three state swimmer at Regionals in Maine, Arkhipova was the YMCA National Qualifier in three events. Her top three events and times are 100 Back (57.73), 200 Back (2:04.57) and 100 Free (56.50). When Arkhipova is not swimming, she loves to hang out with her friends.
