Biography

2013:

Personal:
Cherokee Washington is expected to make an immediate contribution in the back court for the Bulldogs. She played for TCA Volleyball Club, and before that was a member of Mizuno Long Beach. Both are prominent nationally successful club programs. She was captain and an all-conference player for her Crossroads High School team, earning team MVP honors as a freshman and a senior. Washington also excelled in track, where she was a conference champion in the 100 and 200 meters, and was part of the several conference champion relay teams. Her parents were both exceptional athletes, with her father being a 1980 Olympic Qualifier in track, and her mother being a star volleyball player at George Washington. In addition to her athletic success, Washington is involved in numerous leadership groups, service groups and extracurricular activities. She is also an honor student and received a Cum Laude award in Latin among other high honors.

Coach Collier: "Cherokee is a high-potential libero with tremendous athleticism. She was a strong track athlete in high school and both of her parents were elite athletes, so we feel she has some unique potential with her physical abilities. We are excited about seeing how she can develop as a high-level libero and defensive specialist here. She has an opportunity to compete for playing time immediately as a freshman."
