Biography

2012: Rianne Lang led the Bulldogs with 4.03 digs per set during her junior season, ranking eighth in the SAC. She appeared in 30 matches on the season, registering double-digit digs 16 times. Lang notched 20 digs against UNC Pembroke, while collecting 22 digs against USC Aiken. She had 24 digs against Tusculum. A 16-dig performance against Queens started a streak of nine consecutive matches with double-digit digs, which included eight contests of 13 digs or more. Lang had 18 digs in the sweep against Catawba, while registering 22 digs at Tusculum. 

2011: Lang appeared in 32 matches during her sophomore year at Wingate, compiling 22 kills, 83 digs and 17 aces. Lang had five kills, seven digs and seven aces against St. Andrews. She had four kills and five digs against St. Augustine’s, while compiling seven kills, six aces and two digs at Shaw. Lang had 11 digs at Anderson, while notching seven digs at Brevard.

2010: Lang appeared in 28 matches during her freshman season at Wingate, averaging 2.13 digs per set. She also had eight aces on the season. Lang piled up 10 digs in her collegiate debut against Lees-McRae, to go along with two aces. She had a career-best three aces against Coker the following day. Lang had nine digs in two sets against Lincoln Memorial, while also notching nine digs against Mars Hill. She had a career-high 12 digs in Wingate’s sweep over Lenoir-Rhyne.

High School:  Lang was an all-league middle hitter for Thunder Ridge High School and a full-time left side hitter for Colorado Juniors. She has the proven ability to play as a hitter or defensive specialist. Lang was a member of the Academic Honor Roll at Thunder Ridge Lang plays in the Colorado Juniors Club that is run by Bill Peer, who was an assistant coach at Ohio State when Collier was leading the team to three Final Four appearances in the mid 1970’s.

Coach Collier: “Rianne has consistently been one of our most skilled all-around players. She has made significant of progress in her game and her vocal leadership, and we expect her to play a variety of roles with our team as a senior. She has played libero, defensive specialist, leftside hitter and opposite since being here, so we have confidence in her to play a wide range of positions."
