2013: Shelby Nassar appeared in 22 matches during her first season at Wingate...Had one kill and five aces on the year, adding 13 digs...Had two aces in collegiate debut against Newberry...Had a kill and two digs at Newerry...Registered three digs at Anderson.

Personal: Shelby Nassar was the kill leader and Team MVP at Covenant Day High School in her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was selected as an All-State player in each of her final two seasons. As a student she was a National Honor Society member, Beta Club member, and an Advance Placement Scholar. She will be joining current Covenant Day alum Kayla Osterhus on the Wingate roster. As a middle blocker on the highly successful Carolina Juniors Volleyball Team, Nassar played a key role in leading them to championships this season at the Monument City Classic, the Queen City Classic, and the Mid-Atlantic Power League. Nassar plans to major in pre-medical profession curriculum.

Why Shelby chose Wingate: I was looking for a small school with strong academics. Also, Wingate's volleyball program has had a history of doing really well and entering onto a team that was really strong allowed me to increase my volleyball skills. Just by walking around campus I felt a very close knit and friendly vibe that made it impossible for me to go anywhere else. 

Coach Collier: "It is great for our team to have a talented local player in Shelby with us. Shelby proved to be valuable as a serving specialist in her freshman season, along with contributing as an outside hitter and defensive player. She has been a solid addition to our program in many ways."
