Garrett Elder enters his first year as Director of Athletic Creative Services and is in his 6th year overall in the Wingate Athletic Communications department. Elder previously served as a Multimedia Assistant for both Athletics and the University's Marketing Department. He spent one year as a graduate assistant for Athletic Communications. Elder was a student worker in Athletic Communications during his four years as an undergraduate student at Wingate.
At Wingate, Elder is primarily responsible for streaming all home athletic contests to FloSports. He handles the setup and breakdown of all streaming equipment before and after each contest. Elder produces each game from Wingate's production trailer. He manages and schedules a staff of student workers to help with production duties, such as running cameras, cutting replays, and building on-stream graphics.
Elder serves as one of the primary administrators of Wingate's social media channels. He works with a team of content creation student workers to help generate photos, videos, and graphics for all @wingatebulldogs accounts.
Elder serves in other game operations roles as needed, including statistician and public address announcer for field hockey, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and softball.
Born and raised in Charlotte, Elder lives in Matthews and graduated from Wingate University in May of 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, with minors in Marketing and French. He graduated in August of 2024 with a Master of Arts in Sport Management.
