Wingate University Athletics

Makaelyn is currently in her first year at Wingate University, serving as the athletic trainer for the men’s rugby and developmental basketball teams. She received her Master of Science in Athletic Training at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte,in May 2025.

Her clinical experience includes working with UNC Charlotte football, UNC Chapel Hill women’s gymnastics, and Charlotte Country Day School. She also gained diverse exposure through rotations in orthopedic surgery, EMS ride-alongs, and high-level events including Charlotte FC matches and the NCISAA State Wrestling Tournament.

She has a strong foundation in both acute care and rehabilitation, with advanced hands-on experience in modalities such as iontophoresis, shockwave therapy, and therapeutic exercise planning. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and holds certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED.
