Paul Williams is in his first year as an athletic trainer at Wingate University, working with the women’s soccer, beach volleyball, and cross country teams. He obtained his Master of Science in Athletic Training at Western Carolina University in May 2025.
Paul brings a wide range of clinical experience, having worked with NCAA Division I and II teams, high school athletics, and in sports medicine clinics. During his immersive clinical rotation at Wingate in Fall 2024, he assisted with medical care for football and men’s and women’s soccer, including coverage during the SAC and NCAA Division II Final Four tournaments.
He has additional experience in athlete evaluation, rehab programming, emergency response, and therapeutic interventions through prior rotations at Western Carolina University and Pisgah High School. Paul is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and holds certifications in BLS for Healthcare Providers and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens.
Originally from Fayetteville, NC, Paul earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Gardner-Webb University, where he received the Exercise Science Service Award for his leadership and advocacy. He is passionate about athlete wellness and return-to-play strategies, and is excited to support the Bulldogs this season.
