Coaching one of the best offenses in Division 2, Seth Grimwood enters his fifth season as Assistant
Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the Bulldogs in 2025.
Grimwood’s first four seasons at Wingate have been historic for the Bulldog offense. In those four
seasons, Wingate offensive players have earned 18 All-American Awards, 15 USILA Dll All-Region
Awards, 3 USILA Dll All-Region Player of the Year Awards, 14 All-Conference Awards, 2 South Atlantic
Conference Offensive Player of the Year Awards, Sean Clark earned South Atlantic Conference Freshman
of the Year in 2024, Danny Riley earned National Midfielder of the Year in 2022, and Willie Grieco
earned National Attackman of the Year three times in 2022, 2023 and 2024. In all four years of
Grimwood’s tenure the Bulldog offense has ranked Top 10 nationally in points per game and assists per
game.
During his time at Wingate, Grimwood has helped mentor and develop Grieco into one of the best
offensive players to ever play Division 2 lacrosse. Grieco began to flourish in Grimwood’s system and got
progressively better throughout his playing career earning 1 st Team All-American honors in ’21, ’22, ’23
and ‘24; Dll National Attackman of the Year in ’22, ’23 and ‘24; USILA Dll All-Region Player of the Year
Awards in ’22, ’23 and ‘24; South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Year in ’22 and ’23; as well
as spots on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in both the ‘23 and ‘24 seasons. In 2024 Grieco led the
country in points (90), assists (61) and assists per game (3.81). Grieco finished his career at Wingate #2
All Time in NCAA Dll history with 404 career points. He becomes only the second DII player ever to score
over 400 points and the first since 1974. Grieco also ranks #2 in DII history in career assists.
Under Grimwood’s leadership, the offense has completely rewritten the Wingate record book. From
2021 - 2024, the Bulldog offense has more goals, more assists, and more total points than any other four
year stretch in the program’s long history. Willie Grieco is Wingate’s career leader in points (404), points
per game (5.87), assists (259), and assists per game (3.75). Danny Riley is Wingate’s career leader in
goals scored (190), and 2 nd in goals per game (2.71). Adam Vodovnik is Wingate’s career leader in goals
per game (2.75), and in 2021 set the single season record for goals scored (61) and goals per game
(4.07). All of Wingate’s single season records for goals, points, assists, and shots have been set during
Grimwood’s four year tenure.
Grimwood earned his degree from Wingate University in May of 2018, majoring in Community and
Commercial Recreation. In 2019, he was named the Offensive Coordinator at Westminster University in
Salt Lake City, Utah. In Grimwood’s system, Westminster’s offense improved from 29 th to 14 th in scoring
during the 2020 NCAA Dll season. Westminster racked up 15.13 goals per contest with 6 different
players collecting double-digit points in only 8 games.
Grimwood appeared in 59 contests during his Wingate career, piling up 41 goals and 39 assists. He was a
part of Wingate's first-ever South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship team in 2017, while
also helping the 'Dogs capture the 2018 SAC Tournament title. An honorable mention All-SAC honoree in
2018, Grimwood led the SAC Champion Bulldogs with 18 assists, ranking 2 nd on the team with 36 points
and 4 th with 18 goals.
