Senior setter Liz Willis had a big opening weekend as the #21 Wingate Bulldogs opened with a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Carolinas Challenge. The three-time All-SAC and All-Region performer averaged 12.0 assists and 1.36 digs per set. Her weekend was highlighted by handing out a career-high 58 assists in Wingate's 3-1 win over 2009 NCAA Final Four participant Flagler College. Willis had 13 assists in one set against St. Andrews, followed by a 27-assist performance against Lees-McRae. She handed out 34 assists in the Lander win. Willis added seven digs, three aces and a block in her match against Flagler.
