Wingate University junior right-hander Ben Currie (Clemmons, N.C.) continued his dominant stretch on Friday night, tossing seven innings without allowing an earned run against Mars Hill.
Currie has now gone 24 innings without allowing an earned run. Currie allowed just five hits on the night, striking out eight without walking a batter. Currie ranks 10th in the SAC with a 3.10 ERA, compiling a 6-1 record while ranking third in the conference with 69 2/3 innings pitched.
Currie has tossed at least five innings in all 10 starts this year. He has gone at least seven innings six times, while notching a pair of nine inning complete games. He has won his last four starts, and has not lost a game since Feb. 15. Currie's dominance has helped the Bulldogs take a one-game lead in the SAC standings with three games remaining.
