Redshirt senior All-American Anna Hilton was named the SAC Player of the Week for the fourth time this season for her performance in Wingate's three wins last week.
The two-time SAC Player of the Year, Hilton averaged 3.78 kills and 4.44 digs per set, hitting .317 in the three matches as the Bulldogs wrapped up regular season play. Wingate finished the regular season 26-2 overall and 22-0 in the SAC, going undefeated in league play for the sixth time in seven years. The Bulldogs have won 120 of their last 122 SAC matches. The eight-time defending regular season SAC champions will be the top seed in this week's Food Lion SAC Tournament, where they will look for an eighth straight tournament title.
Hilton opened her week with six kills in two sets of action in a sweep over Coker, hitting .385. The 2012 third team All-American piled up 12 kills and 22 digs in the sweep over second place Tusculum Friday night. Hilton capped her week with 16 kills and 16 digs in the victory over Mars Hill Saturday, hitting .325 while adding five assists and two blocks.
Hilton leads the Bulldogs in kills per set this year, while ranking in the top 13 in the SAC with a .349 hitting percentage (2nd), 0.83 blocks per set (4th), 3.39 kills per set (6th) and 3.33 digs per set (13th). Wingate is the top team in the region and ninth-ranked team in the AVCA top 25.
The Bulldogs will try to win an eighth straight SAC Tournament title this weekend in Newberry. Top-seeded Wingate will face eighth-seeded Newberry Friday at noon. The Bulldogs will face the winner of the LMU-Queens contest Saturday afternoon. Sunday's championship match is at 2 p.m.
