Senior outfielder Thomas Spitz (West Chester, Pa.) had an impressive start to the 2015 season, connecting on a pair of homers while driving in seven runs in Wingate’s season-opening doubleheader sweep against St. Andrews Saturday. Spitz went six-for-eight Saturday with a triple, two homers, seven RBI and five runs scored, adding a pair of stolen bases.
Spitz started off the season with a bang, connecting on a three-run homer in his first at-bat of the season. He added a solo homer in the fifth inning and an RBI single in the sixth inning. Spitz had RBI singles in the second and fourth innings of game two, while adding a triple in the fifth inning.
Spitz started all 51 games during his junior season at Wingate, hitting .324 with three homers, three triples, 11 doubles, 27 RBI and 41 runs scored. He was also 10-for-10 in stolen bases. Spitz was an All-SAC and All-Region selection in 2013, while also earning Gold Glove honors.
