Wingate University senior setter Iris Brewer (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned South Atlantic Conference Specialist of the Week honors on Tuesday after leading the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week, which included three SAC wins and a pair of conference road victories.
Brewer handed out 10.10 assists per set in the three matches, adding 3.50 digs, 0.80 kills and 0.40 blocks per set. She started her week by collecting 18 assists and eight digs in two sets of action as Wingate swept Coker. She had 36 assists and 16 digs in Friday night's 3-1 win at Carson-Newman, adding three kills and a block as the Bulldogs handed the Eagles their first league loss of the season. Brewer capped her week by piling up 47 assists and 11 digs at LMU, adding three kills, two blocks and an ace in the 3-1 victory.
Brewer ranks second in the second with 9.95 assists per set on the year, adding 2.83 digs per set. She runs a Wingate offense that leads the SAC in kills per set and hitting percentage. Brewer has notched six double-doubles this season. The Bulldogs are 12-2 overall and 6-1 in the SAC, tied for first place in the league standings.
