Wingate University senior midfielder Shaun Gadsby (Newcastle, England) was named the South Atlantic Conference men's soccer Player of the Week on Monday. Gadsby led the 16th-ranked Bulldogs to an impressive 2-0 week, as Wingate remained unbeaten on the year with a 3-1 win at ninth-ranked Limestone Wednesday and a 2-1 victory at previously unbeaten LMU Sunday. The 'Dogs are now 8-0-2 overall and 5-0 in the SAC.
Gadsby came up huge in Sunday's SAC win at LMU. With Wingate trailing 1-0 at halftime, the 2014 All-SAC and All-Region midfielder scored less than two minutes into the second half to tie it. Gadsby gave the Bulldogs the lead in the 78th minute, scoring on a free kick from just outside the box to keep Wingate undefeated on the year.
Gadsby leads the SAC with five assists this year, adding three goals to rank fifth in the conference with 11 points. He finished second in the league with eight assists last year, adding seven goals to finish third in the SAC with 22 points.
