Wingate University freshman midfielder Wingate University freshman midfielder Daniel Godwin (Greensboro, N.C.) was named the SAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. He helped the Bulldogs win their SAC opener Saturday.
Godwin scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime to lift the visiting Bulldogs to a 7-6 SAC victory over Mars Hill Saturday. On the afternoon, Godwin had one goal and two assists.
Earlier in the week, he posted one goal and two assists in a heart-breaking 9-8 loss to nationally-ranked Mount Olive Wednesday. On the season, Godwin is second on Wingate’s points chart with 11 (five goals, six assists). Godwin is the younger brother of Bulldog senior captain Robert Godwin (Greensboro, N.C.).
