Wingate University Athletics

Wingate University senior Samantha Vencl (Wickliffe, Ohio) won two individual events Saturday (Jan. 16), helping the Bulldog women’s swimming team sweep a double dual home meet with Pfeiffer University and Lenoir-Rhyne University. The number 15 Wingate women defeated Pfeiffer 77-18 and Lenoir-Rhyne 73-22.

 

Vencl won the 50 Freestyle (26.27) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.06) in her final appearance at the Wingate University Natatorium. She was also a member of Wingate’s victorious 200 Medley Relay team (1:54.43).

 

Both Wingate teams are undefeated in dual competition entering Saturday’s huge meet at Emory (Ga.) University. Wingate will face the host EU Eagles and Delta State (Miss.) University.
