Freshman Valerie Dembny (Bremen, Germany) earned four victories (two individual, two relay) as the Wingate women won the Savannah College of Art and Design College Invitational Dec. 2-4. The Bulldogs accumulated 1217 points. The SCAD Bees were second with 871 points

 

On Friday, Dembny participated in three victories for the Bulldog women. Dembny won two individual events: the 100 Backstroke (58.81) and the 100 Butterfly (58.33). In the 400 Medley Relay, Dembny teamed with junior Malin Kersmark (Malin-Bjarred, Sweden), freshman Beatrice Svensson (Lomma, Sweden) and senior Cheryl Vaccaro (Charlotte, N.C.) to set a new meet record with a triumphant time of 3:57.58.

 

On Saturday, Dembny was a member of Wingate’s victorious 200 Medley Relay quartet. She teamed with Kersmark, Svensson and Vaccaro to touch first with a time of 1:48.84. Individually, Dembny collected a silver medal in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:09.48.
