Wingate senior Marcello Machado (Recife, Brazil) as the Bulldogs swept a double dual meet with Lenoir-Rhyne University and Warren Wilson College Saturday. Machado was one-fourth of Wingate’s triumphant 200 Medley Relay team. The quartet also included junior Lee Sousa (Cornelius, N.C.) and freshmen Reed Miller and Liubomyr Lemeshko (Poltava, Ukraine).

 

Later, Machado won the 200 Backstroke (1:59.95). The Brazilian has earned multiple All-American honors for the Bulldogs. Thanks to the efforts of Machado and his teammates, Wingate has earned back-to-back sixth-place finishes at the NCAA Division II national championship meet.
