Kerstin Williams (Summerville, S.C.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Bulldogs past the Tornados of Brevard College 5-1 Wednesday evening in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action at the WU Soccer Complex. Wingate improves to 8-1-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the SAC. Brevard falls to 5-8 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

Williams got Wingate off to a quick start, collecting her eighth goal of the year 2:44 into the first half. Senior defender
Madi Welch (Monroe, N.C.) assisted on the play. The Tornados answered when Caracena took a deflection from just inside the box and chipped it over the goalie to make it 1-1 at the 36:06 mark.
Williams gave the Bulldogs the lead for good two minutes later, when King sent a cross that was re-directed by freshman forward
Chloe' Donaldson (Eagle Springs, N.C.) right to the feet of Williams, as she found the back of the net for the team-best ninth time this year. Wingate took a 2-1 lead into intermission, holding a 17-2 advantage in shots.
The Bulldogs got off to a quick start in the second half, with Zielinski taking a rebound in front of the net and scoring her second goal of the year at the 49:08 mark to make it 3-1. Baldwin added some more insurance with 14 minutes remaining in the second half, scoring on a free kick from over 30 yards out for her second goal of the year.
King capped the scoring, netting her second goal of the year on a penalty kick with 9:34 to go in the game.
Wingate held a 29-4 advantage in shots on the day, including a 17-2 edge in shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Catie Avery (East Hampton, Conn.) collected one save to secure the win for the Bulldogs. Brevard senior goalkeeper
Sydney Douglas (Houston, Texas) racked up 12 saves for the Tornados.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, hosting Mars Hill at 7 p.m. Brevard is also in action Saturday, hosting Warren Wilson at 3 p.m.
