Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs open their conference season Saturday afternoon, hosting Newberry College at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs enter the contest with a record of 6-0-2 on the year while the scarlet-and-gray are 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the South Atlantic Conference.
The Bulldogs have won their last two games, defeating Embry-Riddle 3-0 Friday while claiming a 1-0 victory over UNC Pembroke Wednesday night.

Liz Kinney each scored a goal in the Embry-Riddle victory as
Kelly Adams and
Julie Zielinski collected assists. Zielinski netted the lone goal in the 1-0 victory over the Braves Wednesday night.
Kerstin Williams and Kinney are tied for seventh in the SAC with 12 points each. Williams is fourth in the league with six goals while Kinney is seventh with five goals. Adams in 10th in the conference with 11 points, while leading the way with five assists.
Catie Avery leads the SAC with a 0.30 goals against average while
Miriam Boucher is third at 0.48. The two also rank third and fourth respectively in save percentage.
In two SAC games, Newberry has defeated Mars Hill 3-0 and Brevard 5-0. Michaela Peach had a pair of goals in the win over Mars Hill. She had two assists in the Brevard win, where five different players scored for the scarlet-and-gray.
Peach leads Newberry with three goals, three assists and nine points on the year. Laura Mottel and Amberly Fowler also have three goals each for the scarlet-and-gray. Goalkeeper Emily Rhoades is second in the SAC in save percentage and total saves.
