Liz Kinney (Moore, S.C.) had two goals and an assist, while sophomore forward
Kelly Adams (Matthews, N.C.) added a goal and two assists to lead the Bulldogs past the Knights of St. Andrews Presbyterian College 6-0 in NCAA Division II women’s soccer action Wednesday evening at the WU Soccer Complex.
The Bulldogs improve to 7-0-3 overall on the year, while St. Andrews falls to 4-4-1 overall. Wingate resumes South Atlantic Conference play Saturday, traveling to Catawba College for a 7 p.m. start. The Bulldogs return home Wednesday, Oct. 7, hosting Brevard College at 7 p.m. St. Andrews is back in action Saturday, traveling to Lees-McRae College for a 2 p.m. Conference Carolinas encounter.

Kerstin Williams (Summerville, S.C.) also scored for the Bulldogs. Wingate wasted little time getting on the board, with Williams scoring 73 seconds into the match on a cross from Adams. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead when Welch scored her second goal of the year. Sophomore defender
Megan Mastalerz (Elkridge, Md.) had the assist, putting a free kick from the left corner in front of the goal for Welch to finish.
Kinney scored her first goal of the match at the 28:44 mark, taking a lead pass from freshman forward
Chloe’ Donaldson (Eagle Springs, N.C.). The Bulldogs held a 17-1 advantage in shots at halftime, while holding a 3-0 advantage.
Wingate’s top point producer with 17 points, Kinney scored her second goal of the game and seventh of the year 10 minutes into the second half. Adams had the assist, putting a free kick from 40 yards out in front of the net for Kinney.
Adams would then net a goal of her own at the 70:34 plateau, with Kinney collecting the assist. Mayer capped the scoring on the evening, taking a cross from freshman forward
Teri Magee (Derry, Northern Ireland) and scoring her second goal of the year with six seconds remaining in the match.
Wingate outshot St. Andrews 23-2, while holding a 12-2 edge in shots on goal. The Bulldogs also had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper
Catie Avery (East Hampton, Conn.) collected two saves to secure the victory. Sophomore goalkeeper
Becca Knott (Jacksonville, Fla.) had six saves for the visiting Knights.
