The first-place team in the league standings, Wingate is 5-1-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the SAC. Newberry is 2-8 overall and 2-3 in the SAC.

Reigning SAC Player of the Week Izabella Miranda (Plymouth, Mass.) continued her solid play, tallying an unassisted goal in the ninth minute. Miranda scored her third goal of the season from the left side of the box, approximately 10 yards out.

Wingate took a 2-0 lead in the 17th minute, thanks to a goal by junior forward Hannah Holsclaw (Matthews, N.C.). She was assisted on the throw-in play by freshman forward Brandi Baldwin (Stallings, N.C.) and senior forward Kerstin Williams (Summerville, S.C.). Holsclaw has two goals this season.
